Title: Bookmark Now: Writing in Unreaderly Times
Author: Kevin Smokler, editor
Genre: Non-fiction

It's been a long time between updates. I took a bit of a hiatus from reading for pleasure while working on a few large projects. During that time I read a lot of photography books but since they're work related they aren't appropriate for this list.

I loved the first half of Bookmark Now. Love, loved, loved it. Loved the voices, the tone, the theme and the execution of the essays. The second half? Not so much. For the most part the essays in the second half of the book seemed impersonal and less focused compared to the earlier ones. But the truth of the matter is probably that I just didn't like the styles of the writers in the second half.

So while I didn't enjoy the later sections of the book as much as I wanted to I did enjoy the book as a whole very much. As someone who consumes and produces the written word not so much as a pleasure but as a compulsory need not unlike eating and breathing a book that talks about writers and writing in our current times is endlessly interesting to me.
