I'm a writer and photographer who is blessed to have an amazing partner who supports everything I try. I picked up a camera in 2004 with semi-serious intentions and fell in love. Hard. Since that time I've taken classes, shot thousands of shots, read dozens of books and looked at countless photographs by other photographers. I want to view as much as I can, learn as much as I can and develop my eye and skills as much as I can. I'm a believer that natural talent isn't the only path to success. Frequently hard work unlocks what we think of as talent. At least I hope that's the case.
For the past ten years I've bounced between freelance work (writing, technical editing, web design and technical consulting) and having a regular 9 to 5. The 9 to 5 route has never suited me at all and it's always been my goal to keep my time spent in "day job" situations to a bare minimum. My current dream scenario includes a part time job for a small amount of steady income and the rest of my time spent on photography, writing, art and freelance projects. In a dream world that scenario would allow me to do a lot of work I care about and make a living at the same time. I don't need to be rich, I just want to make a living. Spending day after day doing work that isn't important to me, making other people money just doesn't bring me happiness. Funny that.
I write about cool things in Louisville at Consuming Louisville.
