2005 in Review

Via Jason (via amandarin)

1) Was 2005 a good year for you?
Yes and no. B and I celebrated 10 years together with a great party and a lot of people we love this year but my family had the greatest, most unexpected loss I can imagine this year and it's left us all reeling. I also felt like I took several steps forward in my creative development but took a few steps back in my professional life.

2) What was your favorite moment of the year?
Our Celebration. It was a great party I think (people that were there do you agree?) and it was so wonderful to have so many people we love in one spot.

3) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
The phone call letting me know about my family's loss and the accompanying funeral.

4) Where were you when 2005 began?
My mother's house

5) Who were you with?
B, my Mom and my step-father

6) Where will you be when 2005 ends?
At my own home

7) Who will you be with when 2005 ends?
My dearest, darling love B.

8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2005?
No I did not. I kept some of them but the ones that were most important to me I ended up not accomplishing for a variety of reasons, not just weak will or character on my own.

10) Did you fall in love in 2005?
I fall in love with my dearest, darling love every single day

11) If yes, with whom?
See above

12) If yes, do they know?
I tell her every day

13) Are you still in love with them?
Absolutely

14) Do you regret it?
Never, not even for a moment

15) Did you breakup with anyone in 2005?
Not romance-wise but friendship wise I did.

16) Did you make any new friends in 2005?
Define friends. New acquaintances yes. People that find me important and that I find important? Not really.

17) Who are your favorite new friends?
See above

18) What was your favorite month of 2005?
July

No

20) How many different states did you travel to in 2005?
Just Kentucky I think

21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2005?
Yes

22) Did you miss anybody in the past year?
Yes, very much so.

23) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2005?
Batman Begins

24) What was your favorite song from 2005?
Apple Candy by Ben Lee

25) What was your favorite record from 2005?
It's not from 2005 (it's from 2003 actually) but The Postal Service record probably brought me the most joy this year followed by Antony & The Johnsons' I Am A Bird Now (2005) and Aqualungs' Strange & Beautiful (2005).

26) Did you see any concerts this year?
Yes

27) Did you have a favorite concert in 2005?
No

28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2005?
At times I did but overall probably less combined this year than any other since I was 18.

29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2005?
None

30) Did you hope for something you didn't get in 2005?
Yes

31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
Not that I can think of

32) What was the biggest lie you told in 2005?
After having a falling out with a friend someone asked me if I missed the friend and I said no. At the time I missed her very much.

33) What was the worst lie someone told you?
"I care about you and appreciate all you do for me and I'll pay you your $100 back soon." I guess all in all that's not really a bad lie but it's the worst I could think of.

34) Did you treat somebody badly in 2005?

Reading my non-vows to B in front of friends and family

38) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2005?
Having to call AAA because my car alarm would not turn off

39) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2005 and change something, what would it be?
See #1 & #3

40) What are your plans for 2006?
Take big steps forward in both my creative and professional paths but most importantly make those paths converge more. Also, figure out where we're going to be living after B completes her fellowship. If we decide to stay here a big goal is to learn to like Indianapolis better, become more involved in the city and finally make some freaking friends here. Those same goals apply to any other city we may move to as well.

Yes, it was a grand party.

The dinner the night before was pretty darn good as well.

You're not embarrassed that your mom made out with me?! ;-)

just kidding, love. Your celebration and getting to meet you and B in your favorite place on earth was #2 on my favorite moments of the year narrowly beating out dropping my sister off at college.

For 2006, I want you to find more joy in your every days, more satisfaction in your work and even more satisfying ways for creative outlet.

Happy New Year.
